The Obesity Patient Association is open to anyone living in North Staffs and surrounding areas.If you are contemplating an operation or would like to give or receive support after or before a surgical operation, please feel welcome to join and find out what you need to know. Both Private and NHS patients are welcome to join and also interested health professionals
About Us
OPA North Staffs is a patient support group founded in
September 2004.
OPA provides a comprehensive range of information and support for
all obesity patients, including support at all stages of surgical
intervention. OPA works closely with health professionals and
other interested parties to expand the scope of obesity services
throughout our region.
We aim to ensure patients receive the best care possible from
multi-disciplinary teams.
OPA is also commited to excellence in patient support and the
provision of support throughout our region.
OPA Objectives:
1. Support and encourage participation in a patient support programme through meetings, workshops and social events and celebrate weight loss and health improvement successes.
2. Provide a "Buddy service" to support local patients pre-and post-operatively.
3. Lobby for increased access to obesity services in our region.
4. Encourage both the NHS and private sector to provide optimal services and ensure health professionals and patients are aware of the existence of these services.
5. OPA provides information and support for all patients at all stages of their treatment.
